At the entrance to site of Vat Phu, a building houses the museum and the management organization site offices. The museum presents an interesting collection of objects of searches, elements of architecture and sculptures which, for reasons of conservation have been exhibited here to safety.
Visiting this museum before discovering the site is a good introduction to understand and appreciate this place’s true worth.
The museum was built between 2001 and 2003, thanks to the Japan government, within the framework of its cooperation with the Lao government. The building has been limited to a specific size not to risk to damage the archaeological basement and to waste the view towards the Mekong, from the superior terraces of the sanctuary.
