The site of Vat Phu is located in Champassak district, managed by Champassak province. The site is situated in the South of Laos, between the Mekong river and Phou Kao mountain. Several possible options to access :
Flight to Paksé : from Vientiane (Laos), from Siem Reap ( Cambodia), from Bangkok (Thailand). VIP or local Night bus from Vientiane, by International bus from Ubon Rattchatani ; Thailand (2 daily bus), by local bus or private van from 4 000 islands (the South Laos) Arriving in Champassak - by songthaw, leaving from Paksé Market (Talat Dao Heuang), or from the South bus station (km 8 on the road 13), both including crossing the Mekong river. - by songthaw up to Ban Muang, then take a ferry to cross, then a tuk-tuk to a guesthouse or other one. - by boat from the jetty of Paksé (booking at Paksé travel agencies) - a road has been building and should allow to access to Champassak from Paksé via the right bank of the Mekong (achieving in 2011). ![]()

- from 8:00 am till 4:30 pm for the museum
